Abstract

The ethnographic research of the Institute of Ethnography and Folklore of the Romanian Academy has for two or three generations, starting with the six decade of last century's its main project to achieve the first Romanian Ethnographic Atlas. Were thus 40 years elapsed from the onset of researches and the project is now in its final stage: three books were published and two being drawn. On the trail of the Romanian Linguistic Atlas we were interested about the populations speaking idioms and dialects of Romanian language spread beyond the borders. The main purpose of the Romanian Ethnographic Atlas is to highlight the ethnographic values of the historical communities outside borders of Romania. In this respect, Romanian Ethnographic Atlas questionnaires will have beeing applied, choosing the pilot municipalities from the Romanian communities abroad. On this project probably will work two or three generations of ethnographers. Upon completion of these huge field information however we have a complete picture of Romanian ethnography particularities from the southern-eastern Europe.
