Abstract

One of the multiples sociological issues approached by D. Gusti in his vast work, although least known, is that of the sociological research of the Law. Approaching the Law from the beneficial perspective of sociology allowed the distinguished Romanian scholar to develop some major themes of the young discipline, like: the Law as "aspect of the social life"; the sociology of the Civil Law; the sociology of the International Public Law and the legislative sociology. These theoretical issues were to be happily completed in his work by the methodological aspects of the monographic research of the juridical manifestations of the social units and by the empiric monographic investigation of some manifestations of the Romanian village between the two World Wars. The theoretical, methodological and empirical contributions that Dimitrie Gusti, the father of the Bucharest Sociological School, had in the domain of the sociological research of the Law place him, alongside Eugeniu Sperantia, Mircea Djuvara, H.H. Stahl, Mircea I. Manoilescu etc., among the founders of the Romanian Sociology of Law.
