Abstract

The beginning of the 90s represents the option of Romanian Government for a welfare state based on decentralization of social services delivery. This options lead to a change of relationships between public administration and citizens and to a re-evaluation of the role of local government. From this perspective, this article analyzes the role of local government in social services delivery. It approaches aspects like legislation, local government's relationships with central authorities, methods of local budget constitution, local authorities responsibilities in social services delivery.
