Abstract

Until the transformations imposed by the communist regime, the rural world had the image of an equilibrated and despite its poverty, healty demographical unit. The years 50-60 brought the firtst demographical breakdown of the rural areas. The rural ageing becames the most fearful social phenomena in contemporany Romania and all over the eastern area. The contemporany type of rural economy in which the households lack the youngers members, does not offer any chance to villages inhabited mostly of old persons. On the other side, the younger, emigrated from the villages, do not succed in improving their condition, becoming the poor in the cities.
